SCHOOL PROFILE: Langley Meadows is a newer school with a population of about 520 K-7 students and a staff of approximately 50. The neighbourhood we serve is one predominantly of single family homes, although many now encompass two separate suites. The area surrounding us is changing rapidly as development occurs throughout the Willoughby slope region. In the past we have been designated a greater needs school by the District. We include 28 ESL students, 13 IS students, 50 First Nations students and 23 students with designated Ministry special needs.
As a school community, we have clear vision, mission and value statements. These have been developed collaboratively with staff, parents and students; these are tenants we live by and base decisions on. They guide our progress.
We believe we have a strong school; increasingly parents choose to come to us based on our reputation, FSA/District test results, reading, writing, math, technology, and P.E. accomplishments. We are recognized as a well rounded and successful school as is validated by our satisfaction surveys, general feedback, and the number of cross boundary and cross district requests that we receive (nearly 100 each year).
