Graduation Transitions 12 (GT 12)
In 2007 the Ministry of Education made Graduation Transitions 12 mandatory for high school graduation.
GT 12 is worth 4 credits. The final mark on the student's report card and transcript is Requirements Met (RM). There is no percentage attached to RM; it is either done or not done.
The 4 components of GT 12 are -
#1 Personal Health (100 hours of physical activity)
#2 Community Connections (30 hours of work/volunteer experience)
#3 Career and Life Goals
#4 Presentation of the mini-portfolio (the 3 items listed above)
Grad Transitions is a semester course taught at R.E. Mountain for the first time this year. It will give Grade 11 and 12 students the opportunity to create the mandatory mini-portfolio and be prepared to graduate.
The final product of GT 12 is a collection of achievements - a mini portfolio of booklets 1, 2, 3 - that is shared (in grade 12) with a responsible adult. The sharing is perhaps the most important part of the process; we hope you will find this to be true.

SD #35 Daily Physical Activity (DPA) Requirement
Students in the grad transitions class will engage and document at least 100 hours of physical activity during their grade 11 and grade 12 years.
Regular physical activity is essential to the development of young bodies and minds. Daily Physical Activity (DPA) is required for students in the Graduation Program (grades 10 – 12).
Grade 11/12 students are expected to participate in 150 minutes of physical activity each week. DPA can be something students do:
· at school - intramural sports, athletic teams, PE 11/12
· in the community - organized sports teams, recreational classes (e.g. dance, martial arts)
· on their own - biking, roller blading, walking, physically active chores
Students are expected to log their physical activity hours. A weekly log is ideal. At REMSS we will accept evidence other than a weekly log that verifies a total of 100 hours of physical activity during the grade 11/12 years.
