Excellent support and important roles for Lochiel U-Connect
Education Centre parents:
At Lochiel U-Connect Education Centre, parents are key to
student success. As such, there are many ways in which parents
can be involved in the program, both on site and at home.
- Parents
- Are
encouraged and welcome to join their children in on-site
sessions
- Are
active participants in the Centre
- Are
invited to attend workshops provided throughout the year
for a variety of interests and levels.
Some examples are:
- Technology
- Web-searching
- Web-design
- Graphics
- Writing
- Excellence
in writing workshops

Reading
- Strategies
to improve reading
- Support
their child’s learning at home, following the Ministry
of Education Learning Outcomes and B.C. curriculum
- Provide
an appropriately supervised environment, conducive to
learning
- Communicate regularly with Lochiel U-Connect
Education Centre teachers
- Meet
with the Lochiel U-Connect Education Centre teachers for year-long planning and at the end of each term
for assessment
- Provide
sufficient evidence of learning, as outlined in planning
meetings with the Lochiel teachers and in the Student
Learning Plans, so that Lochiel teachers may assess and
meet the Ministry of Education’s formal reporting
requirements
- Sign
the required agreements, regarding the loan and use of
program equipment and resources
